In a lower-carbon future there will be a substantial increase in demand for several key minerals and metals to manufacture cleaner energy technologies. Climate-Smart Mining Engineering will develop a key role in the near future by providing new techniques and methods for sustainable exploration and mining of such raw materials - non-invasive exploration techniques, automation, digital mining and smart mining technologies- which reduce energy consumption and minimize technological and environmental risks.
