Academic donations

The ITLab is fully equipped with leading-edge industry software for geological modelling, geophysics and reservoir engineering donated under academic license agreements from the major software companies in the oil and gas industry. These applications are used both in research and to support the Master and Doctorate Programmes in Petroleum Engineering. The current amount of software under academic license donation agreements is up to $39M.

Aspen Plus package

Aspen Plus package uses an integrated modeling for batch and continuous processes. It relies on proven physical properties and reaction models for chemicals, electrolytes, solids and polymers. Employ seamless, integrated tools for costing, energy management, safety analysis and equipment design. Get visual insights with a modern user interface for today's engineers.

DecisionSpace

With the DecisionSpace Geosciences 10 suite, geologists, geophysicists, geomodelers and well engineers can collaborate effectively and securely in real time using the industry's only integrated geosciences suite. Whether the need is basic exploration and production, deep or ultra-deep water, unconventionals or complex mature assets, DecisionSpace Geosciences 10 software provides an unmatched application suite to interpret all oil and gas data, evaluate and prioritize prospects before drilling, and maximize the full recoverable potential of the reservoir during production. This software is available under an academic license donation agreement with Halliburton/Landmark.

Echos

Paradigm® Echos® is the oil and gas E&P industry’s leading system for seismic processing. Its popularity is based on its breadth of geophysical applications, its unique combination of production and interactive seismic data processing, its maturity and stability, and its versatile programming environment. Through its modular design, open architecture, and adherence to standards, Echos is both flexible in configuration and customizable for performance optimization. This software is available under an academic license donation agreement with Emerson - Paradigm.

Eclipse

ECLIPSE the industry-reference fluid flow simulator is available under an academic license donation agreement with Schlumberger. It offers the industry’s most complete and robust set of numerical solutions for fast and accurate prediction of dynamic behavior for all types of reservoirs and development schemes. The ECLIPSE simulator has been the benchmark for commercial reservoir simulation for more than 25 years thanks to its extensive capabilities, robustness, speed, parallel scalability, and unmatched platform coverage.

GAMS

The General Algebraic Modeling System  is a high-level modeling system for mathematical programming and optimization. It consists of a language compiler and a stable of integrated high-performance solvers. GAMS is tailored for complex, large scale modeling applications, and allows you to build large maintainable models that can be adapted quickly to new situations. GAMS is specifically designed for modeling linear, nonlinear and mixed integer optimization problems.

gPROMS ModelBuilder

gPROMS platform provides all the essential functionality – drag & drop flowsheeting, first-principles custom modelling, parameter estimation, global system analysis tools, and most important, a powerful optimisation framework that allows you to seek optimal solutions directly rather than by trial-and-error simulation. There are three major environments: gPROMS ProcessBuilder, gPROMS FormulatedProducts and gPROMS ModelBuilder.

Hampson-Russell

HampsonRussell offers a fully integrated suite of world-class geophysical interpretation tools for reservoir characterization. Known for its ease of use, HampsonRussell makes sophisticated geophysical techniques accessible to all levels of geophysicists. This software is available under an academic license donation agreement with CGG.

Intersect

The INTERSECT high-resolution reservoir fluid flow simulator goes beyond the capabilities offered by current-generation simulators. The result is improved accuracy and efficiency in field development planning and risk mitigation—even for the most complex fields. This software is available under an academic license donation agreement with Schlumberger.

ProMAX

With intuitive analysis tools, state-of-the-art geophysical algorithms and an optimized parallel infrastructure, the SeisSpace® ProMAX® Seismic Processing Software family helps teams get the most out of seismic data, increase productivity, reduce project cycle times and understand even the most difficult geologic targets. This software is available under an academic license donation agreement with Halliburton/Landmark.

Petrel

The Petrel E&P software platform brings disciplines together with best-in-class applied science in an unparalleled productivity environment.
