Since October 2022, Igor Bento Pedra has been researching at the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), at the Department of Chemical Engineering. In 2022, he obtained his BSc in Petroleum Engineering and simultaneously enrolled in a Masters in Chemical Engineering at IPS. Throughout his Masters, he has been researching innovative ways to remove dyes from industrial effluents with the incorporation of residual feedstocks for the development of new biochar-based adsorbents. His passion for adsorbent development began during his BSc internship project at IST, where he developed food waste-based biochars for biodiesel production.
