SHAZAM - Seismicity and HAzards of the sub-saharian Atlantic Margin
Project SHAZAM addresses the intraplate seismicity of the Gulf of Guinea as a means to investigate the role of asthenospheric dynamics in crustal deformation. The instrumental monitoring of the moderate seismicity of the region will be revamped, as well as the geodetic monitoring of the crustal strain, in collaboration with the local institutions. The active tectonics of the region will be studied via geomorphology. |
NEMOSINE-Innovative Packaging Solutions For Storage and Conservation of 20th Century Cultural Heritage of Artefacts Based on Cellulose Derivative
A huge percentage of the recent European cultural heritage (CH) can be found in movies, photographies, posters and slides produced between 1895 and 1970 were made using cellulose derivates. More than 75 years of visual and audio memories are in serious danger to be lost due to the natural instability cellulose acetate (CA).
NEMOSINE improves the traditional storage solutions, such as freeze storage (below 5ºC), by developing an innovative package with the main goal of energy saving and extent conservation time.
Clean4G-Conversition of CO2 from cement production process into a clean gaseous fuel for use in the same process-circularity in the process of cement emissions
Project CLEAN 4G will build upon a sustainable approach to the production of methane (SNG) from CO2 and hydrogen based on renewable sources.
UNTIeD - UNlocking the megaTsunamI Deadlock: using the near-source impacts to constrain tsunami generation by volcanic flank collapses
UNTIeD intends to propose a multi-disciplinary approach to study the proximal impact of Fogo's megatsunami. The objectives are threefold: to reconstruct tsunami inundation of Santiago Island in Cape Verde in high resolution, to acquire marine geophysical data around Santiago and to provide a seamless high-resolution bathymetric/topographic dataset and to develop a more solid, evidence-calibrated numerical model for the generation and near-source propagation/inundation of collapse-induced megatsunamis. |
INPACTUS - Black Liquor
Black liquor is a pulp mill effluent from wood cooking with a solid content of 15-18 wt.%, which is mostly lignin. The present study focuses the electrolysis of black liquor for energy recovery. The process has several economic and environmental advantages, as it simultaneously generates a clean fuel (hydrogen) at the cathode and a precipitated material with economic value (lignin) at the anode surface. |
