Ana Clara Marques
Ana C. Marques graduated in Materials Engineering (IST, 2000) and holds a Ph.D. in Materials Sci. & Eng. (IST, 2005) with a strong focus on sol-gel processing. She then worked as a Post-Doc at IST and Lehigh University (USA), before joining Dow Corning in Belgium, where she worked as an R&D Chemist for more than 3 years. She was the project leader of several R&D projects, aiming at product development (e.g. halogen-free flame retardant additives) and large-scale production. In 2011 she joined Ynvisible S.A. as R&D Director. She was responsible for the development of electrochromic and electrolyte formulations, which are nowadays used in commercial displays. She is based at IST as a Post-Doc researcher in strong connection with the industry (Greenseal Research). Her main current research interest is the tailoring of material structure by sol-gel, e.g. functional and sustainable microcapsules, for high added value products. She has 31 publications in peer-reviewed journals and 8 patents. She is Assistant Professor at IST, giving lectures of Polymeric Materials and Polymer Processing and Recycling courses.
